There aren’t many cities in the world like Bangkok. The Thai capital isn’t only a huge and vibrant city, but it is also developing and growing and breakneck pace. If you’ve ever been there, you probably noticed that it’s huge, and it’s hard to comprehend where the nice and rich parts are, and where they end. To help you out, we have a list of some of the richest neighborhoods of Bangkok.
Watthana is located just west of the Bangkok city center. It’s a very modern and affluent area, with a few embassies being located here. It’s not completely unknown to tourists, but it’s still a pretty big neighborhood and some of the areas are more touristy that the others. If you want to experience the new, modern and orderly part of Bangkok, Watthana is an amazing area to walk around in. There are also some shopping centers here, so if you want to do some shopping while walking around, this is the spot. It’s also a good place to lice in, if you can afford it.
Phaya Thai is located in the north of Bangkok’s city center. There are a lot of government buildings and ministries located here. As you might guess, the area is wealthy and there is some interesting architecture here, from the 20th century. This isn’t a place where many tourists hang out, so if you want to experience a more local and natural vibe, this is the neighborhood to visit. During the day you can see bureaucrats going around their day, and get a feel for the vibe of Bangkok. You can get here using the green line.
Pathum Wan District
Pathum Wan is just outside of the city center. This is a popular area and most tourists find themselves here at one point or another. It’s a great place for a walk especially the park Lumpini, which is a very beautiful green space. The whole neighborhood is green and you can find a lot of locals and students here. That, of course, means that there are a lot of cool places to drink and have fun. This is both a very Thai and very touristy area of Bangkok, and you need to experience the vibe of Pathum Wan. If you’re here, just do yourself a favour and take a walk.
